Hi there! Below is a list of events to look out for this month. I'll be updating the calendar regularly as I learn about more happenings around town, but if you have any suggestions for events to include, you can drop a comment below this post, or message me here.

Primary Voting: Early primary voting is underway. Find your voting location here. Primary day is May 24th (you can vote then if you don’t vote early!). Need in-language voting info or know someone who does? The Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF) has information in Hindi, Bangla, Urdu, and Korean.

Get out the vote: Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta is looking for canvassers to knock on doors May 14th and May 21st to encourage people to vote. Read here for more info and sign up here to volunteer.

Asian American Pacific Islander Art on the Beltline: ABCs of AAPI is a 150 foot long installation along the Beltline, depicting influential Asians like Bruce Lee, Anna May Wong, and Fred Korematsu. The installation was put together by local artists, organizers, and students, with support from the Asian American Advocacy Fund. More info here.

Workers' Voting Rights: In honor of May Day, the Georgia Muslim Voter Project and 9 to 5 Georgia are hosting a virtual chat about voting rights for workers. 6pm on Instagram Live. More info here.

Saturday, May 7th

NACA Spring Festival: The National Association of Chinese Americans is hosting a Spring Festival, featuring an appearance from Mayor Andre Dickens, a keynote from State Senator Michelle Au, along with food, music, and entertainment. *The event is sold out, but you can join the waitlist.* Canton House, 4825 Buford Hwy NE, Chamblee, GA 30341.. 6:30 to 10:00pm. Cinco de Mayo Festival: Plaza Fiesta is hosting a Cinco De Mayo party with mariachi music, games, prizes, and activities for kids. There will also be a mariachi serenade to honor Mother’s Day. 4166 Buford Hwy NE, Atlanta, GA 30345. More info here.

Saturday, May 14th

Gwinnett Multicultural Festival: Gwinnett County is hosting a festival to “celebrate the vibrant cultures and customs that thrive in Gwinnett.” It will include traditional dances, bouncy houses, obstacle courses, and more. Gwinnett Place Mall. 2100 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth, GA 30096 10am to 2pm. More info here.

Eid Festival - Atlanta Muslim Hub is having an Eid celebration in Peachtree Corners featuring kids activities, halal food, and over 50 vendors showcasing diverse products. Hilton Northeast, The Hunnicutt Ballroom. 5993 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. 11am - 8pm. Tickets are $5. More info here.

Conference for Latina Entrepreneurs: The Latin American Association is holding its annual conference to support the personal and professional growth of Latina women entrepreneurs. The day-long event will feature Latina leaders, as well as information and resources to support budding entrepreneurs. Gas South District. 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway. Duluth, GA 30097. 8:00am to 3:00pm. Atlanta Chinese Dance Company Performance: The Atlanta Chinese Dance Company performs classical and Chinese folk dances throughout the metro area. In May, they’ll be performing at the library, for free! Gwinnett County Public Library - Duluth, 3180 Main Street, Branch, Duluth, GA 30096. 11am to 12pm. More info here.

Saturday, May 28th

Atlanta Caribbean Carnival: This carnival has been running for more than three decades! It all started in 1987, when, according to the Facebook Page for the event, a group of people from different Caribbean islands came together and decided to host a West Indian style carnival. The festival includes a street parade, live music and Caribbean food. Central Park. 400 Merritts Avenue Northeast. 10am to 11pm. Atlanta, GA 30308 More info here.
